Fitness FAQ

Q: Why should I see a certified personal trainer, like Kristen,  if I am on a GLP-1 or GLP-1/GIP receptor agonist?

Whether you're on a quest to enhance your health or beginning a medication regimen for weight loss or managing Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus, incorporating physical exercise is essential. Unless a medical condition restricts your ability to engage in exercise, being active doesn't just complement your efforts but also contributes to overall health improvement. Numerous studies highlight the positive impact of exercise on maintaining results (especially lean body mass) over the long term. Hiring a certified personal trainer, like Kristen, can provide valuable assurance that you're performing exercises correctly and safely and following a tailored exercise regimen that aligns with your unique needs and goals.

Q: Do I need to be a member of a gym to get support from you?

A: Nope!

Q: How are you different from others in the industry?

A:  My goal is NOT to get as many clients as possible. This is not a numbers game for me and money is not my motivation. My goal is to have loyal clients who regularly use and see me as a valuable asset to their life and an integral part of their journey to wellness. What this means to YOU is that you can expect thorough assessments and personal attention no matter what services you are needing. Strong relationships are important to me and are crucial to maintaining the integrity of my business. Additionally, my education is unique and that makes my set of resources and tools more broad and expansive.

Q:  What if my job transfers me and/or I have an injury or some other event that makes me unable to continue our relationship?

A: Each situation will be evaluated and monies returned if services have not yet been rendered or an alternative relationship cannot be established. I work remotely with clients so if it is as simple as a move- we may be able to just move to a remote relationship vs an in-person one.

Q: Can I hire you if I live remotely?

A:  I have experience with remote clients, and it works well. For nutrition services,  we can use FaceTime or Skype technology or simply communicate by phone and email. For personal training services- this could work a variety of ways. I have given clients plans that suit their goals and they are expected to follow the fitness regimen in their home or gym. I give plans that my clients are able to do based on the equipment they currently have access to and that fit their current fitness level. I do my best to ensure the safety of my clients by showing them how to perform the exercise correctly through photos and videos. I also explain how they can use their own body’s feedback signals to ensure proper execution.

Q: How long do you spend with clients on personal training appointments? What does that time include?

A: The total time spent with a client on the actual session will vary. All personal training sessions include the workout session/exercise time and explanation and instruction of exercise. I want to respect your time and want the same in return so the time spent on exercise will make up the bulk of any session. If you require additional instruction or education this may be an additional cost. The shortest appointments are 40 min which include a 30 min express (but highly intense and effective) workout. Hour long sessions include a 45 min-50minworkout.

Q: I just need routine personal training- do I have to follow your specific diet plan?

A: If you are needing only fitness services no nutrition plan will be provided. If you are not reaching your goals a nutrition consultation might be recommended as nutrition is an enormous component to achieving health and fitness goals. Abs are made in the kitchen!

Q: I have a wedding in 4 weeks- can you help me lose weight for the big day?

A: Because I believe in long-term changes for clients I cannot promise any major weight loss for all clients in a short period of time (4 weeks or less). I am familiar with protocols that can help you lose water weight and show a lower number on the scale in a short period of time, but these solutions are not ideal and are not sustainable. I can certainly work with you if you have an event in 4 weeks to get you looking your best in that amount of time, however, realistic expectations would be determined up-front and agreed upon. If your wedding is 3 months or longer in the future- this is more ideal and I can tailor a package to suit you.

Q: Do I have to purchase equipment or anything if receiving personal training from you on location or remotely?

A: My goal is always to create plans that can be executed with what you currently have available. This means that I will never require you to make large purchases to complete a workout. The only thing that is absolutely required is proper gym attire- meaning proper shoes and basic and appropriate clothing in order to get the most out of the workouts and keep you safe. Weights, machines, cardio equipment etc is not mandatory and not necessary. If I travel to you for sessions and need a certain piece of equipment to complete a workout I will provide that during the session.
